Managing Advanced Playlists in CentovaCast
CentovaCast Auto-DJ offers multiple playlist modes that allow you to fine-tune how and when
your audio is played. While these options may seem complex at first, they are designed to give
you full control over your station’s programming.
This guide explains each playlist type, how they function, and the configuration options
available for advanced playlist management.
Important: Auto-DJ must be fully configured and running before any advanced playlists
can operate correctly.
Creating a Playlist in CentovaCast
To create a new playlist, navigate to:
CentovaCast → Auto-DJ → Playlists → Create Playlist
This will open the playlist creation interface, where you can choose from four different
playlist categories. After creating a playlist, music must be added to it before it can be used.
Available Playlist Types
General Rotation
General Rotation playlists form the backbone of Auto-DJ playback.
At least one General Rotation playlist must be enabled for Auto-DJ to start streaming.
Auto-DJ selects music from General Rotation playlists whenever there are no scheduled,
interval, or immediate playlists taking priority.
Scheduled Playlists
Scheduled playlists allow you to define specific dates and times for playback.
They are ideal for planned radio shows, themed days, or special programming blocks.
These playlists can run once or repeat on a regular schedule, depending on your configuration.
Interval Playlists
Interval playlists trigger playback after a defined number of songs or a set amount of time.
They are commonly used for advertisements, station IDs, or recurring announcements.
Immediate Playlists
Immediate playlists insert audio directly after every track finishes.
This type is most commonly used for song requests or special inserts that must play frequently.
Playlist Configuration Options
Each playlist type includes its own configuration settings that determine how Auto-DJ handles playback.
Below is a breakdown of the available options for each playlist category.
General Rotation Playlist Settings
Playback Order
- Random (Shuffled): Tracks are played in a randomized order.
Auto-DJ ensures that songs are not repeated until the entire playlist has been played. - Sequential (In Order): Tracks play from top to bottom exactly as listed.
Playback Priority (Weight 1–20)
Playlist weight determines how often one General Rotation playlist is selected over another.
A higher value increases the likelihood that the playlist will be played.
This is useful when you want certain content, such as new releases, to receive more airtime
than standard rotation tracks.
Scheduled Playlist Settings
- Start Date: The calendar date when the playlist becomes active.
- Start Time: The exact time the playlist begins playback.
- Repeat Pattern: Defines whether the playlist repeats daily, weekly,
monthly, or yearly. - Playback Mode: Choose whether tracks play in order, shuffled,
or if only a single track is played. - Interruptible: Determines whether another playlist is allowed
to override this one. - Stop After (Minutes): Limits playback duration.
A value of 0 allows the playlist to play in full.
Interval Playlist Settings
- Repeat Every: Sets how many songs must play before the interval playlist runs.
For example, a value of 20 triggers playback after every 20 tracks.
Playback Method
- Play One Random Track: Selects and plays a single random item from the playlist.
- Play All Tracks Sequentially: Plays every track in order until completion.
Immediate Playlist Settings
Playback Order
- Random (Shuffled): Plays tracks in random order without repetition
until the playlist is fully cycled. - Sequential (In Order): Plays tracks from top to bottom as listed.
Summary:
Advanced playlists allow you to build a professional broadcast schedule using automation.
By combining General Rotation, Scheduled, Interval, and Immediate playlists,
you can create a dynamic and fully controlled radio experience.
